LOVE AT
FIRST SIGHT FOR COVINGTON VILLAGE HOMEBUYERS
OCEAN COUNTY, NJ—While relaxing in their elegant condominium
home at Matzel Development’s Covington Village community
in Ocean County, Harry and Jewel Hurd seem far removed from
the life-changing experience they incurred during the holiday
season of 2004. Yet, the fond memories of discovering this
popular active adult neighborhood remain strikingly vivid.
As Jewell happily recalled, it was just before New Year’s
when she was en route to visiting a friend who lived in the
vicinity of Covington Village, when she noticed the alluring
fountains that adorn the community’s grand entrance. “Though
Harry and I had been discussing the need for a low-maintenance
home, we weren’t actively looking at adult communities
per se,” she said. “But once I passed those fountains
and saw the woods surrounding the neighborhood, I had to
stop at the Sales Center. After I discovered that those trees
were actually preserved woodlands, and was later informed
about the condominium style homes and the clubhouse, I had
to bring Harry back with me for a more serious look.”
That she did, and approximately one week later, the Hurds
were Covington Village homeowners. “We bought on the
spot, without having sold our other house,” Jewell
continued. “We fell in love with everything about this
community, from my very first impression of the salespeople,
to the home designs, to the seclusion and intimacy of the
neighborhood. We are already enjoying the clubhouse with
the new restaurant, and can’t wait for our sons and
grand daugher to join us at the pool.”
In addition to the community’s low-maintenance attributes,
which were imperative to the Hurds, Jewell also cited the
close proximity to the Garden State Parkway of which Covington
Village homeowners are availed. “One of my sons and
my grandchild live up in West Long Branch in Monmouth, and
our other boy resides in Toms River, where we used to live.
What makes this community so appealing is that even though
it is nicely secluded, we are only a few minutes from the
Parkway,” she said. “Shopping and plenty of places
to eat are also nearby and we can use the community shuttle
service to get there if we like.”
The Hurds chose the spacious Barnet home design, featuring
one bedroom and a den. Another one bedroom and two-bedroom,
2-bath model are also available. “Quality construction
was also very important to us,” Jewell noted. “We
understand that Matzel Development has received a lot of
industry recognition from prominent building organizations,
so we certainly feel that we got the best value by purchasing
here.” Prices at Covington Village start at $184,900
and the builder is paying property taxes and maintenance
fees for a full year for new buyers.
For the second consecutive year, Covington Village received
the Grand Award for Community of the Year from the New Jersey
Builders Association.
